It's still not fully fixed. The drain pump was difficult to replace as there is little clearance between the floor and the bottom of the door. Removing the door would have made the job easier. I just didn't want to do it. It's far simpler to disconnect your lines and power and pull the washer out. As for the pump removal itself, there is a PUSH tab at the top of the pump that you must push in while turning the old pump counterclockwise in order to disengage from the sump.
Installing the new pump is fairly straightforward, just line it up right, push in while twisting clockwise until it clicks, less than 1/4 turn. Draining works again as it should. Half the battle, but the machine is still leaking badly.
After further inspection with an endoscope, the culprit is the grommet that's connected to the diverter motor shaft and it's leaking directly out the circular bottom of that shaft on the component. Waiting for that part to arrive and replacing the diverter motor at the same time as the grommet and hopefully that will be that. I could NOT find that grommet anywhere for a good price on its own, it was only offered bundled with the entire sump assembly for $160 and up.
I bought a third party grommet from AVX Seals as it's supposed to be a perfect replacement. that part is their Shaft Oil Seal TC5.5x16x8 Rubber Covered Double Lip w/Garter Spring ID 5.5mm OD 16mm 5.5x16x8 5.5 x 16 x 8 mm. A $4 part.
I'll tell ya, the parts in this Kenmore are really cheap plastic. Shame on Sears putting the "Kenmore Elite" brand on a product with such cheap, flimsy parts that are so easily ruined. $1400 for this dishwasher and in less than 5 years I've spent hundreds now replacing the drain pump, diverter motor, grommet, upper tray assembly and rollers and lower tray rollers all due to cheap plastic and cheap seals that don't last.
