Luis F Hawthorne , CA April 20, 2021 Appliance: Whirlpool Refrigerator WRX988SIBM03 Fresh food section(top half) was not cooling. Checked and found the evaporator frozen causing the fan to stop working. Took the interior panels off and applied a blow dryer to the ice, once the ice melted I cut the tabs on the grommet holding the fan since everything is thin plastic and replaced the grommet and fan. Placed everything back and found no further issues. Tools I used were a small flat head screwdriver to pry the panels off and a 1/4 socket to remove the center drawer (4), water filter cover (2), and the ice maker (2). Not too difficult but I was careful, being that this was my first refrigerator repair, and did not want to break anything. As for the LED’s, the freezer light stopped working causing the lights on top to stop working as well being that it runs in series. Replaced the single LED and all the lights worked again. Alex M Navasota , TX September 30, 2025 Appliance: KitchenAid Refrigerator, French Door, W/Dispenser KRMF706EBS00 My kitchenaid refrigerator (10 years old) was not cooling at the proper temperature After reviewing information from APP, I made an educated guess it was a defective evaporator fan motor. There were two motors to choose from so I watched the how-to-video on removing and replacing the fan motor. I followed the instructions (that matched my refrigerator model 100%) and removed the fan motor. It wasn't difficult but it was an involved process. Now I knew which one to order,so I did. My part arrived the next day. I followed the video instructions to reassemble all parts and plugged it in. Forty eight hours later it was cooling below 40 degrees F. It is still running perfectly.
