Luis F Hawthorne , CA April 20, 2021 Appliance: Whirlpool Refrigerator WRX988SIBM03 Fresh food section(top half) was not cooling. Checked and found the evaporator frozen causing the fan to stop working. Took the interior panels off and applied a blow dryer to the ice, once the ice melted I cut the tabs on the grommet holding the fan since everything is thin plastic and replaced the grommet and fan. Placed everything back and found no further issues. Tools I used were a small flat head screwdriver to pry the panels off and a 1/4 socket to remove the center drawer (4), water filter cover (2), and the ice maker (2). Not too difficult but I was careful, being that this was my first refrigerator repair, and did not want to break anything. As for the LED’s, the freezer light stopped working causing the lights on top to stop working as well being that it runs in series. Replaced the single LED and all the lights worked again.
