David P Hoover , AL June 22, 2019 Appliance: KitchenAid 48" Built In Refrigerator KSSC48QVS02 Water pad on refrigerator worked only when you pushed very hard on one 1/4" x 1/2" spot Removed water catcher, then 4 screws in water/ice vault in door, then removed screws on door side (5) top (2) and bottom (2). Removed stainless door skin. Removed 4 hex head bolts in ice/water vault (containing pads) and 4 bolts on the module immediately above the vault. Pulled the vault and module above out part way to unplug one cable. Then laid on table to unplug pads. From back, each pad has a small indent preventing the pad from being pushed up and removed. Push the small indent with a small screwdriver, then push the pad up until released. Same with other pad. Install new pads by inserting in holes and pushing down. Plug cables up (Each will only plug into one place). Read More... 9 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: Less than 15 minutes Tools: Nut Drivers, Screwdrivers
Frank P Florham Park , NJ May 22, 2014 Appliance: KitchenAid 48" Built In Refrigerator KSSC48QVS02 Slow water drip through ice chute occasionally started spewing ice cubes by itself uncontrollably KitchenAid Side by Side Built In Fridge Model KSSC48QVS02. It appears the slow water drip shorted out the ICE dispensing pad which resulted in the spewing out ice. The only to stop it was by turning on the Holiday Mode which shuts down the ice making/dispensing functions of the Fridge. The reason for the slow water drip was that the chute door was not sealing the ice chute completely and some air was getting in slowly melting the ice. The chute door was not sealing because the motor assembly was worn out so the motor would not push the door with enough force. To fix it I replaced the Chute Door, the Chute Door Motor assembly and the shorted out dispenser pad. About $150 total. It took me maybe 1/2 hour to change the parts and 5 or 6 hours to figure it out and order the parts etc. 3 days later it seems a success and no more leaks of water or ice.....
