Donald W Rockledge , FL March 17, 2015 Appliance: Model AMANA REFRIG AF23538AEQ Water leaking on the floor After trying to stop leaks with glue, i figured I should replace the drip pan, It took a little effort to get the fan out of the way but once that was taken care of the rest was simple. Putting the new pan in was very easy five minutes at most. The best part was the great delivery I got from appliance parts, and this is not a paid commercial. THANKS!!! Robert M Glenside , PA November 06, 2015 Appliance: Model KITCHENAID REFRIG WITH BOTTOM FREEZER The drip pan had basically disintegrated in the 6 years i've had the kitchenaid refrigerator Had to take the back cover off. It was very tight to remove the fan that sat in the drip pan but did get it off, was able to apply the same level of cursing and got the new pan installed, installing the drain tube was a breeze. Found the parts price very reasonable. Hoping the Whirlpool redesigned the pan so I won't have to do it ever again. I was surprised at how bad the quality of their original part was. Probably saved myself $150.00 on buying the part and doing it myself Read More... 14 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 30-60 minutes Tools: Nut Drivers
Thomas M Plainville , CT November 09, 2015 Appliance: Whirlpool Refrigerator GI5SVAXVL01 Leaking water on floor right side After diagnosing the problem and ordering the part late on Wednesday night, the part was waiting for me Friday afternoon when I came home from work - awesome shipping times! First remove the grate I did plenty of research, so I read that removing the fan shroud was the biggest pain, the only way I was able to removing was by forcing it out on an angle. With everything out of the way, this was the perfect time to vacuum all the junk down there. Replacing the old cracked pan (6 year old fridge - whoever came up with that formula of plastic should be fired) took about 2 minute. Putting the fan shroud in wasn't as painful as removing it. Screw the grate back in, and we're done! Read More... 14 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 15-30 minutes Tools: Nut Drivers
Victor U La Habra , CA October 24, 2016 Water leaking on the floor on the right side Found the drip pan cracked on my 5 years old Maytag fridge. Replaced it and hope this will take care of the leak. The challenge is to remove the fan since is mounted on top of the drip pan. No tools are needed since the fan is kind of snapped in (no screws). Slides on the edges of the drip pan, so you need to apply some force, carefully bent the plastic frame and push it out of the tracks. The fan frame is flexible enough to bend but careful not to break it. Once the fan is out, the drip pan is also snapped in so there are two little tabs to be pushed out with your flat screwdriver. Install back the new drip pan, the fan, the little funnel and you are good to go. The whole job could take up to an hour if you don't have to do too much vacuuming and cleaning. Randall L Big Stone Gap , VA April 13, 2017 The drip pan was broke and leaking water on the floor The overal repair took about 35 minutes. Unplug the refrigerator. I took the back panel off and unattached the water line from the back panel. I unplugged the wires from the fan. The hardest part is getting the fan housing out from the drip pan. you need to unsnap the drip pan from the frig so it can move just a bit. working the fan by tilting the top forward the bottom back and to the side until you get it free from the pan and then just pull it out. when you remove the pan make sure you move the copper line out of the way and don't break the drain tub thats attached to the pan. When I put everything back in it seamed to just fall into place. just take your time and work the fan slow until you get it back into place.
