Pete H Cypress , CA July 23, 2015 Appliance: Maytag Undercounter Dishwasher MDB7749AWM2 'start' and 'cancel' buttons (the two on the right) would not light up nor work buttons on the left side did work My Maytag dishwasher model # MDB7749AWM2 has a diagnosis routine where you push 'normal wash' then 'heated dry' three times in quick succession. This made the machine cycle through all the functions. This demonstrated to me that all systems functioned. So I came to the conclusion that it was only the lights/buttons that did not work, and I was right. So I ordered a new Panel Control. (I've seen that many more Maytag's use this same part) To replace the Panel Control took 9 minutes. UNPLUG THE POWER BEFORE STARTING. 110V is no joke!! 6 Torx screws need to be removed to get the old control panel off. I needed a #15 torx bit. After removing the old panel from the DW door - hanging by a few bundles of wire - you'll need to remove the latch (one screw and two clips, I think) and the Electronic Control (two clips). Basically everything on the old panel was swapped to the new panel. It helps if someone holds the old and new panel while swapping the parts out. Note: the steam vent in the door was a little crooked and didn't line up with the gasket well. A little turn and it was straight and level and made a good seal. This will help keep steam moisture out of the controls, prolonging the lifespan of the parts. Got it all back together, plugged in the machine, crossed my fingers and it worked. I won big point with my wife. And it was 50x easier than replacing the DW. I've heard the service man will charge you $100+ labor for this. 9 minutes of work... come on! Anyway, it was VERY easy. Just remember to unplug you machine before ever working on it. Ann Marie D Cherry Hill , NJ November 17, 2015 Appliance: Maytag Undercounter Dishwasher MDB7749AWM1 My dishwasher start button would not work and the cycle buttons did not match what the washer did We put in the door latch and it did not fix problem so we installed the control panel and bingo it worked. So I'll return the handle soon but will not take the door latch off. This was the best experience ever - no repairman to call and wait on and no hassles. Thank you for your help and cooperation. Greatly appreciated - I actually dealt with Robin Hartness - awesome. I've been telling all my friends and family to use your website for all repairs. Thanks again Robin!!!! Ronald R Cheyenne , WY August 09, 2014 Appliance: Maytag Undercounter Dishwasher MDB7749AWM2 Cycly side of control panel wasn't working no lights or anything else If it is just the cycle side that's out this is your fix, the first time I went to the site they suggested the control box, that wasn't the problem. When I went back they said the only other thing it could be is the control panel and it certainly was. My wife was over joyed to have the dishwasher back up and working. I would say the fix was quite simple, it took about 15min. Remember if none of the lights are working it is probably the control box but if it is just the cycle side this is your fix.
