How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP5985108 / W10811151 Control Panel

We put in the door latch and it did not fix problem so we installed the control panel and bingo it worked. So I'll return the handle soon but will not take the door latch off. This was the best experience ever - no repairman to call and wait on and no hassles. Thank you for your help and cooperation. Greatly appreciated - I actually dealt with Robin Hartness - awesome. If it is just the cycle side that's out this is your fix, the first time I went to the site they suggested the control box, that wasn't the problem. When I went back they said the only other thing it could be is the control panel and it certainly was. My wife was over joyed to have the dishwasher back up and working. I would say the fix was quite simple, it took about 15min. Remember if none of the lights are working it is probably the control box but if it is just the cycle side this is your fix. 

After replacing the control panel everything worked again. I had the dishwasher for two year before it broke. Cntrl-elec for Maytag Undercounter dishwasher 

Watched video on checking thermal fuse. Fuse was bad, ordered new fuse and a new control panel because 4 out of the 6 plastic screw posts were broken. Shipping took 2 days!!! Super fast service!!! Installed new thermal fuse, control panel powered right up, so I swapped out new control panel for old one, super easy and quick. Put panel back on, unit works as good as new!!! Removed control panel from door (6 screws). Checked door lock mechanism by removing its' two power wires and inserted jumper wire between them. My dishwasher still had same buttons not working, so door lock mechanism was not the problem. Read similar problems of your other customers. Control panel was the solution for them. Ordered and received new control panel (fast). Removed plastic box with all the wires from old control panel (pressed two plastic tabs). Removed ribbon wire that connects control panel to plastic box. Reversed to install. Dishwasher back in business and tons of the repairman's money still in my wallet! 

Online there were lots of stories about flat plastic cable getting rusted. some were able to clean the cable and paint on new circuits, but the places where the rust was on my cable made it impossible. I had to replace the whole control panel because you can't just replace the cable. I replaced the old control panel with a new control panel. 

REPLACED IT 

If the machine won't start and the buttons light up on the right side and not the left. , it is probably the Panel control and not the control panel they always tell you it is. 

By doing research about what the possible problem would be, i found a forum "appliance blog" where i was able to find the answer and link to this website. I am happy to say that the problem was corrected by changing the control panel. Thank you
