Steve H Long Beach , CA February 25, 2016 Appliance: Maytag Gas Dryer MGD6400TQ0 Our dryer was squeaking like crazy Our dryer was making such a load noise that we deemed it unusable. We weren't sure if something would burn up if it continued like it was. So I checked a few articles on the internet and everything pointed to most likely the drum belt. Ours looked a little worn but not really that bad so I got the part. I then followed the repair video that AppliancePros had posted for my model (which was great) and installed the belt. Still squeaking. So I went on to #2 on the list of possible problems, the drum wheels. A couple of ours seemed a little less free than they should be so I got the parts and installed those guys. Still squeaking. So I went on to #3 on the list the dryer pulley. By the way, it is really hard to figure out where the actual noise is coming from since when you actually run the dryer everything is closed up so you have to kind of guess and inspect each of the possible problem areas. I sprayed some lithium lubricant on the pulley wheel and no more squeak! (for one load at least and then it came right back). So I got the part, replaced and everything is good now. In some weird way I think I should get a journey repair certificate for all my effort ;). My only regret is that I should have gotten all the parts and replaced all at once. Kind of a dryer tune up. I would recommend getting the belt, wheels, and pulley in one shot. It is cheaper than all of the shipping costs that you will incur if you don't guess right. One last thing. AppliancePros gets the stuff to you in 2 days if the part is in stock. That really helped save some skin with the wife while the dryer was down. Jeff F Blue Springs , MO September 17, 2016 Appliance: Whirlpool Electric Dryer WED6400SW0 The cabrio dryer developed a loud squeaking sound this was due to a worn idler pulley Access to the idler pulley was accomplished by lifting the top deck, removal of the door and front panel. Next I released the drive belt from the idler pulley. Then removed the tension spring with needle nose pliers and the cap screw holding the idler pulley assembly. Re-assemble in reverse order with the new idler pulley. Very simple. About a 25 minute repair. Tip: several examples of this repair can be found on YouTube. Note: Only the idler pulley was used for this repair. I ordered the drum support rollers and tri-ring to have on hand. Robert H Des Plaines , IL October 15, 2017 Appliance: Whirlpool Gas Dryer WGD6400SW2 Dryer drum was not turning The Pulley roller was locked up and the belt was worn. While I had it apart I replaced the 4 drum rollers as well as the 2 Drum seals. Everything went well though the Drum Seals were a little difficult to put on. Needed 4 hands! NOTE - WHEN PUTTING THE SCREWS BACK IN THE TOP TO HOLD THE LINT TRAP ROLL UP A RAG AND PLACE IT IN THE OPENING! This will avoid many bad words once you drop one down the lint trap opening.
