Replaced motor shaft seal and upgraded to metal transmission housing as recommended. Video was spot on. Actual parts replacement only took about 15 minutes, cleaning up the grease/oil that had leaked out took another 45 minutes. Would be good to specify the proper grease to use. Read More... Ryan P Valencia , PA January 12, 2022 KitchenAid 600 mixer not powering up when turned on. The mixer let out a puff of smoke when turned off after 7 minutes of kneading bread. There were no burnt wires or electrical connections I could see. Assumed it was the motor vs. the control board. All it took was a Phillips head screwdriver to take the mixer apart and install the new motor. I think there were a total of 15 screws to disassemble. I could have reused the motor shaft seal, but glad I ordered a replacement just in case. Wish I would have had some grease on hand to apply to the drive shaft. Read More...
