John M Carmel , CA September 19, 2014 Appliance: KitchenAid Dishwasher KUDS220T3 Broken door springs on kitchen aid dishwasher One of the two springs on our 25-year-old dishwasher broke with a loud "bang" five days ago. This is an easy fix, involving the removal of only the bottom access panel (two screws). However, we have a wooden insert covering the door, so that the dishwasher matches the cabinets. This makes the door MUCH heavier than normal, and so the door springs are not stock, but are heavy-duty. I didn't know what springs to buy. Fortunately, Appliance Parts Pros has a forum where experts provide advice. Even though I was unable to find the part I needed simply by searching the database, they provided a direct link to the part. I ordered two springs, and they arrived the next day. It took only a few minutes to install them, and our dishwasher door is now as light as a feather. Several months ago, I replaced the door gasket on the same appliance, and had a similar experience.
