Description

This mechanical defrost timer automatically switches the refrigerator between cooling and defrost cycles. Replacing a failing timer helps clear evaporator frost so temperatures remain stable and cooling performance is consistent. What it does:

• Initiates the defrost cycle at regular intervals and then returns the system to cooling
• Interrupts compressor power and energizes the defrost heater during defrost
• Helps prevent heavy frost buildup on the evaporator
• Common failure symptoms include thick frost on the evaporator/back wall, warming in the fresh food section, the unit running constantly or getting stuck in defrost, or repeated clicking from the control area
