Repairman diagnosed the problem as a bad lid-switch-assembly and replaced it - problem solved. Now I need to return the Timer-Control. Then the Appliance Parts Pros videos on YouTube helped us know how to install the parts, and they gave us enough info to know how to handle a few surprises that came up. Thank you for the good technical support all around! (It took a long time and was difficult, but only because previous owners had used gorilla glue to install the parts we were fixing.
