Jeffrey F Apex , NC September 16, 2017 Appliance: Maytag Electric Dryer MED6400TQ0 Dryer not heating Our dryer seemed to be taking a long time to dry, often needing a couple cycles to complete the job. Then one day it stopped heating at all. After watching a couple videos and testing with a multimeter I figured out not only the thermristor had blown (can happen due to bad airflow) but also half the heating element was shot. I ordered both parts for overnight delivery and received them at noon the next day. Replacement was easy and the dryer is good again. Side note: After the repair was done I decided to blow out the house duct with a blower, and then started getting "AF" (airflow restriction) errors on the dryer. It appears I blew lint down the duct and it collected on some old bird nests that had gotten in there, blocking most of the air. I bought a lint eater kit, got the duct cleared all the way through and the dryer works better than ever!
