Mike K Snohomish , WA August 12, 2019 Gas burner valve was stuck and was not able to turn it off with the knob (broke the knob in the process) What you will need: * replacement parts * small and regular Phillips screwdrivers * small wrench * soapy water in a spray bottle or leak detection spray Take apart the top of the stove control unit 1) turn off the gas to the stove, in my case I cannot get to the shutoff valve easily so I ended up turning off the electricity to the stove at the fuse box as that forces an emergency shutdown of the gas supply internally of the stove. 2) remove all 5 knobs, the grates at the top and open the oven door 3) remove 7 screws (4 at the bottom under the oven door, 3 behind the oven door 4) lift the cover-up and away, store safely 5) use a small wrench to unscrew the gas line at the back of the valve carefully to not bend the pipe 6) use a Phillips screwdriver to unscrew the screw that mounts the valve body to the gas pipe on top, be careful not to strip it as it might be very tight. 7) remove the top bracket and slide out the valve body Assemble back together with the new part in reverse order, before putting the cover back on spray the new valve with soapy water or leak detection spray and turn on the gas to verify there are no leaks (if the spray/soap bubbles turn off the gas as the check/slightly tighten your connections) If in doubt find a licensed and bonded service tech to do the install. Chris S Knoxville , TN April 03, 2022 Appliance: KitchenAid Gas Range KGRS505XBL01 Burner valve bad (won't turn on). This isn't the first time. I'm an old hand at it now. These valves, though expensive, go bad after a few years in that suddenly they refuse to turn on (It is fortunate that they fail in this manner - what if they wouldn't turn off?). The repair is simple, but the flange nut on the end of the valve (the pipe that goes to the burner) is difficult to get to with an open end wrench). One can take loose the supply manifold (the pipe that all the other valves are connected to) and that helps a little bit. I now have three spares (one for each type of burner (low BTU, high BTU, and griddle-in-the-middle), because another one will fail soon.
