M David M Pittsburgh , PA March 17, 2016 Whirlpool washing machine wouldn't spin I ordered what I thought were the necessary parts from appliancepartspro.com as my washing machine wouldn't spin. I should have watched there videos before I began as I took the whole cabinet off and everything and after receiving the parts and watching their video realized I didn't need to do so, at that point in time. When I put the pieces back together I found that the tub was really stuck, it would move but for the most part it was hard to move and creating a horrible noise. I knew I had put the thing back correctly. I then decided I needed to replace the basket drive. The standard shipping ended up coming in the same amount of time as the express two day shipping had come from the first order. I looked up on the web about removing the basket because it just would not budget. I beat it like crazy, poured various lubricants and things like liquid wrench in the area and still couldn't get it to move. I ended up heating really hot with a heat gun and then had my wife come down and help me pull it up. The tub along with the drive block came off. I then took a sledge hammer and just dropped it down on the drive block and it popped out. It was rust frozen to the tub. So they say to just keep working and it will somehow come apart and they are right. Beating it didn't help but the heat did. Others heat didn't help but beating it did. It will eventually dislodge. So I replaced the drive basket and my machine runs like new. What is awesome with this site is that they don't just send you the parts. They email you the videos to watch as to how to remove the old and install the new part. This was so super helpful that I totally rebuilt my washing machine and it runs perfectly. I do the wash and didn't want one of the new machines that doesn't get your clothes clean. Now I have a washer that will run for another 20 years. This site is AWESOME and will be my go to site for appliance repairs in the future! Elijah S Stockton , CA May 24, 2015 Squealing during spin cycle and very weak agitation My parents have the older 80 series washer and dryer that gets used way more than a consumer washer and dryer was ever meant to be used. The washing machine finally said im tired. During the spin cycle it was making a really loud squealing noise and during the agitation cycle it would barely agitate the clothes. So i ordered the basket drive to get rid of the squealing during spin cycle and noticed the dogs on the cams were warn and werent grabbing so ordered the whole cam kit to be safe and some extra dogs for the future. Now it agitates the clothes like a new washing machine and no squealing. The clutch and the coupler i order and replaced just to be safe because it seems to be a common part that goes out on these things. Parts fixed all the problems that i was initially out to fix, but when i was testing it out i noticed that sometimes it wouldnt spin the clothes dry, but if i opened the washing machine and closed it again. It would spin them dry. So apparent the cycle isnt stopping to allow the transmission to reverse and send the machine into spin. Im assuming its a timer problem, so that will be the next and last part i change and everything should be like new again. My dad is definately happy. Only spending a couple hundred bucks to fix the washing machine we have instead of spending a couple grand on new front loading washing machine and dryer like my mom would prefer. John M Richmond , VA March 31, 2014 Wouldn't spin. Used to be weak, but quit working completely. I searched forums and found the likely culprit was the clutch. The Appliance Pros video made the job approachable and directed me to the part I needed right away. The forums also mentioned that replacing the basket drive was typically done at the same time as replacing the clutch, so I bought the more expensive part that also included the clutch. I followed the steps in the video exactly as shown. Everything was perfectly clear. Had I not had the video, I'm sure it would have taken many hours and I would have been stumped at several places. While I had it all apart, we washed everything too, so the unit is like-new inside and out. I noticed some rust on the drive stem of the inner basket, so I suspect we'll be replacing that next.
