Allan H Baroda , MI March 06, 2016 Appliance: Maytag Gas Dryer MDG6000BWW Lack of heat and long drying times Our Maytag gas clothes dryer was not drying like it should/used to and was making a lot of noise. After researching online I figured the vent was partially blocked and/or the blower wheel was bad. When I took it apart, the vent had very little lint in the lower elbow exiting the back of the dryer but the blower wheel was loose on the shaft and was missing the clamp. I cleaned out the vent and put a hose clamp on the blower wheel to tighten it to the shaft and tried it again. The noise was gone, but it still didn't dry. I purchased and installed a gas valve coil kit and a cycling thermostat and the dryer is working like new again!!! I am so glad that I found this website with great info and a great selection of products at great prices. Teresa A Purcellville , VA March 11, 2016 Broken blower wheel (toy dropped inside and crushed the blades) After watching a few videos, I opened the front of the dryer, removed the old pieces and put in the new ones. This model of dryer was pretty easy to work with. One thing that I didn't expect to be so difficult was the removal of the old blower wheel. The new one slid right on, but the old one didn't want to budge without a lot of force. If you can go ahead and get the special snap ring pliers, it would definitely make it easier to get the snap ring off and on, but I did the repair with a set of tweezers. I recommend wearing work gloves--I got a few nicks on my hands while doing the repair. S M Bayville , NJ June 10, 2015 My clothes dryer was making a really loud noise Inspected inside of dryer parts and saw that the dryer blower wheel was cracked. Called a major department store to order part and was told it would take almost 2 weeks to be delivered to the store. I looked the part up on line and found AppliancePartsPros.com. I ordered the part on line on Tuesday and it was delivered to my door on Thursday! It also cost me less than it would of if ordering it through the store including shipping and handing. Luckily I have a handy son in law who was able to do the repair and my dryer sounds like new even though it is over 10 years old and for a total cost of $26.92! I would definitely recommend this site for its reasonable prices, ease of placing an order, and fast delivery and would not hesitate to contact AppliancePartsPros again if a need arises in the future Very Satisfied Customer Read More... 3 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 30-60 minutes Tools: Nut Drivers, Pliers, Screwdrivers
Thomas H Ukiah , CA May 02, 2019 Appliance: Model MAG4000AWQ My Maytag Neptune gas dryer after 20 years of use was making loud noise while in operation. Also the dryer seem to be running to hot. After reviewing your website for possible causes, and disassemble procedures, I disassembled the dryer unit. I found a lot of dirt but, also found a bad guide wheel that support the drum, the bearing in on the motor unit were leaking oil, and the blower wheel D shaft was worn out of shape causing the wheel to hit the housing. Also the original belt had air checking cracks which made sense to replace it. I decided to replace the thermostat per your website recommendation for solving over- heating. The felt seal on the front of the drum was damaged so I included a replacement in my order and installed a new seal. After receiving all of the necessary parts I performed the reassembly of the unit. After installing all of the parts I did a trial run and the belt jumped off the motor axle. After some fun reinstalling the belt properly I test ran the unit. Whoa it sounds like new. Oh but then a slight rattle noise started, I suspect because I did not replace the new drum roller axle that I purchased for the new drum roller. The noise seems to have decreased after multiple cycles, but I plan on disassembling the unit and installing the part. Over all the dryer is working like new, including the over heating issue seems to be solved too. Thank you for the great source of parts and installation videos.
