Robert B Gaithersburg , MD March 08, 2016 Appliance: Jenn-Air Electric Downdraft Surface Unit C301-C Stove downdraft stopped working I replaced the downdraft fan and fan motor of my 25 year old JennAire C301 cooktop. The issue was getting the fan/motor assembly out in such a tight place. I had to first remove the fan cover, cut the wires, then the assembly came out. Putting back wasn't as tough although getting the cover back on (over the motor) was a bit of a strain. Wired it back, turned it on, and was thrilled. Now I'll replace the knobs and burners and we're back in business. David S East Amherst , NY October 04, 2019 Appliance: Jenn-Air Electric Downdraft Surface Unit C202-C Bearing failed in downdraft blower motor Removed old fan wheel and motor. The set screw for the fan was frozen and could not be removed. Ordered new motor kit and fan from the Pros which arrived in 2 days (not expedited!). Removed band with vibration isolators from the old motor and attached it and supplied foam strip to the new motor. Noticed new motor had an oil port but no instructions or what grade of oil was needed. No clues on the installation web site. Decided to leave it alone. Attached the fan using Locktite on the set screw and reassembled the unit to the range. Powered up and all appears good. Melvin H Cameron , TX April 15, 2026 Appliance: Model RC8720EDB WHIRLPOOL COOK TOP Replaced the squirl cage fan on our down draft cook top REPLACED THE SQUIRL CAGE FAN ON OUR DOWN DRAFT COOK TOP. I ORDERED A NEW ONE. IT CAME IN AHEAD OF SCEDULE. THE NEW ONE HAD A WORSE IMBALANCE THAN THE OLD ONE. THE NEW ONE DID NOT HAVE A BALANCING WEIGHT LIKE THE OLD ONE DID SO I WAS NOT SURE IF IT HAD BEEN BALANCED AT THE FACTORY. I NOTICED A BAD WOBBLE LIKE A BENT CAR RIM WOULD HAVE. THIS IS WHERE THE SHAKE WAS COMING FROM. I SMACKED IT WITH THE PALM OF MY HAND A COUPLE TIMES TO STRAIGHTEN IT AND THIS FIXED THE PROBLEM. I ALMOST WORE THE THREADS OFF OF THE LITTLE BOLTS TAKING IT OFF AND PUTTING IT BACK ON TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHY IT WAS SHAKING SO BAD. I AM HAPPY TO FIND A PART FOR A 26-YEAR-OLD APPLIANCE BUT WISH I DID NOT HAVE TO TROUBLE SHOOT THE SOURCE OF AN IMBALANCE. THIS TURNED A QUICK REPAIR INTO AN EXTENDED ONE. THE LADY THAT TOOK MY ORDER OVER THE PHONE WAS REALLY NICE AND HELPFUL. Read More... Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 1-2 hours Tools: Socket Set
