This dishwasher control module assembly is the appliance's electronic brain, directing cycle timing and power to the motor, pumps, water valve, and heater. Replace it to restore proper operation when cycles won't start, advance, or the controls are unresponsive.

  • Manages cycle timing and coordinates wash, rinse, drain, and dry operations
  • Distributes power to key components based on inputs from the user interface and sensors
  • Helps resolve issues such as no start/no response, cycles that won't advance or complete, or recurring error codes/beeping
  • Restores consistent control of wash performance and cycle sequencing
What's included: One control module assembly. Install notes:
  • Disconnect power at the breaker or unplug the dishwasher before servicing
  • Handle the board by the edges and use ESD precautions; avoid touching components
  • Move wiring harnesses over one connector at a time to match positions on the new module
  • After installation, restore power and run a test/service cycle or control reset per your model's tech sheet

Dorothynocerino for Model Number PDW9700N0011

We noticed a burning smell coming out of the dishwasher. We took the panel off the front and it looks like the control unit needs replacing. There was also what looks like a flat plastic type of strip that when I look at the diagram of the parts, it is the piece that goes from the right side of the control panel to the inside of the unit that seems to have burned. Is this a major repair? Should I be considering replacing the unit It is approx 9 years old now.

Answer

Dorothy, Sounds like you're referring to the keypad assembly WD34X11158 / WD34X11158 key pad assembly. It is adhered to the top of the door and the "ribbon" connector is inserted through a slot in the panel, and is routed through the door and attaches to the control module WD21X10370 / WD21X10370 module control assembly. If the electrical shock/short was big enough, it could have damaged/burnt the keypad. You may want to replace both parts, based on your description. Whether you repair or replace the machine is up to you, but a repair is less than a replacement, and you may get a few more years of service out of the machine.
