This dishwasher control module assembly is the appliance's electronic brain, directing cycle timing and power to the motor, pumps, water valve, and heater. Replace it to restore proper operation when cycles won't start, advance, or the controls are unresponsive.

  • Manages cycle timing and coordinates wash, rinse, drain, and dry operations
  • Distributes power to key components based on inputs from the user interface and sensors
  • Helps resolve issues such as no start/no response, cycles that won't advance or complete, or recurring error codes/beeping
  • Restores consistent control of wash performance and cycle sequencing
What's included: One control module assembly. Install notes:
  • Disconnect power at the breaker or unplug the dishwasher before servicing
  • Handle the board by the edges and use ESD precautions; avoid touching components
  • Move wiring harnesses over one connector at a time to match positions on the new module
  • After installation, restore power and run a test/service cycle or control reset per your model's tech sheet

Dishwasher having trouble starting up when start button is pushed. Starts beeping -and blinking - no pauses. We have been able to get it started by shutting it down with the 2 end buttons for 3 seconds, then going to our breaker boxes and turning off the breaker and leaving it for about a minute before turning it back on. Sometimes we go through this routine several times before it finally will start. Once it does start, it runs fine without problems. We have never been able to get it to start up by only using the buttons on the dishwasher. It has something to do with resetting the breaker, too. We don't know what part is going out. Can you identify the problem? And if so, is it a part we can replace ourselves?

1 Answer

Mark, Remove the lower kickplate and access the control board underneath along with the tech sheet. The control board will have a light that would flash and the sequence will tell you the error code. Look at the tech sheet to find out what the flashing represents. If it comes back normal then the issue will be the User interface board.

Gen, more than likely you would possibly have a partially clogged water valve or the valve solenoid may not be opening properly. One thing that can be checked is the operation time of the valve itself. If the valve operates for the appropriate amount of time and does not allow the proper amount of water through, then the valve would need to be changed out.

Keith, For this issue the touchpad would be the most likely cause if it would not switch from one setting to another. The part number that would be needed would be WD34X11210.

Dale, For this issue with only the final drain not running then this would be a faulty main control board on the unit.

We noticed a burning smell coming out of the dishwasher. We took the panel off the front and it looks like the control unit needs replacing. There was also what looks like a flat plastic type of strip that when I look at the diagram of the parts, it is the piece that goes from the right side of the control panel to the inside of the unit that seems to have burned. Is this a major repair? Should I be considering replacing the unit It is approx 9 years old now.

1 Answer

Dorothy, Sounds like you're referring to the keypad assembly WD34X11158 / WD34X11158 key pad assembly. It is adhered to the top of the door and the "ribbon" connector is inserted through a slot in the panel, and is routed through the door and attaches to the control module WD21X10370 / WD21X10370 module control assembly. If the electrical shock/short was big enough, it could have damaged/burnt the keypad. You may want to replace both parts, based on your description. Whether you repair or replace the machine is up to you, but a repair is less than a replacement, and you may get a few more years of service out of the machine.

Steve, Will want to make sure that the incoming water supply is a minimum of 120 degrees. If not then the unit may be stalling to heat the water to the proper temp. If this is not the case then the issue would most likely be with the main board.

So my wife mixed detergents and plugged the dispenser tank again. for the second time.in our GE dishwasher. I took the tank out and cleaned it thoroughly as I had in the past then tried to manually purge the water and the touchpad stopped responding. After turning power on and off several times to try and reset. I got a new touchpad. Before sticking it to the front door I plugged it in and tried it. The dishwasher ran through a cycle as it should.. Thinking I had solved the mystery even though the two issues shouldnt have been related I carefully put the pad on the door, closed the door, then turned the breaker back on.Now It is doing the same thing it did at the start no response from the touchpad no matter which buttons pressed. two lights are on, heat and one of the lights that show which mode of cleaning is lit. Makes no sense to me.Your thoughts?.

1 Answer

Ray, You will want to check the ribbon harness connection at the control board to make sure that the harness is fully seated. This issue could be a bad connector on the control board in which once the liner is put on it is causing a short in that connector.

Azamul, This issue would most likely be caused by a faulty touchpad on the unit with just 2 keys not working.
