Manufacturer Part Number: WP2260518B

The Water Filter Cap is an OEM part for Whirlpool refrigerators. This cap is designed to securely seal the water filter compartment in your refrigerator, ensuring that the filter remains in place and functions effectively to provide clean, fresh-tasting water and ice.

Symptoms of a failing water filter cap include:

  • Water leakage around the filter area
  • Difficulty in removing or securing the cap, which may indicate a poor fit
  • Cracks or damage to the cap that can compromise the water filtration system's integrity

Causes of water filter cap issues typically involve regular wear and tear from replacing the water filter, accidental damage during filter changes, or manufacturing defects that could affect fit and function.

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Catherine G. for Model Number ED5FHEXVSOO

We are trying to replace the water filter on refrigerator. Have watched video on getting grill off to give us more visual and also the video on replacing water filter. Looks as though the cap is gone. When we press the little indentation to the left of the entrance nothing pops out. It looks as though the cap is missing and we can't get anything around and down in there to twist anything out. I have looked at the model numbers in this section and our number is not listed. Looks as though manufactured in May of 2008. Please help.

Answer

Hello Catherine, I always reach in with the handles of my channel lock pliers to twist the filter counterclockwise and this allows me to remove the filter. If needed, you can use a screwdriver or anything that will fit between the handles of the channel lock pliers to add leverage for turning the filter. It is a tight fit to seal the water. The replacement part number for the cap is WP2260518B.
