Whirlpool Refrigerator Cap Or Cover

Our Kenmore (Whirlpool) refrigerator's ice maker had stopped making ice. I searched YouTube and found a repair videos for this exact problem, finding one with a similar refrigerator and the identical ice maker. I learned that the Water Inlet Valve had likely gone bad and would need to be replaced. Replaced filter cap with new one. The minor challenge was to find a method of pulling the filter out of refrigerator (which is normally done by pulling on the filler cap. The filter was recessed to far into the refrigerator for me to be able attach the new cap. I had to find another tactic to remove the filter. I ordered a new handle from Applisnce Parts Pros. It fit the refrigerator perfectly. I reused some of the old screws and ordered one new screw with a cover to attach the bottom of the handle. Now the refrigerator looks as good as new! Read more

There was a little tiny black part inside of where the water comes out. I took a photo of that part, then I studied the tech specs for the make and model of my fridge for almost 2 hours until I found a part that looked very similar to my photo of the little black part. It was a limit switch. Sure enough, that was it!!! Water now dispenses, and even better, when you pull the glass away, the water stops coming out! Read more
