Bill for Model Number 106.52582202 Kenmore Our refridgerator went out. It's a side by side and the freezer is working fine. The compressor is very hot to the touch. Is this normal and would the compressor starting device kit be the most likely problem? (It's about 7 years old.)
Answer Hello Bill. If the compressor is working, then the starting device should be ok. Check and make sure the condensor fan motor W10124096 is running in the back of the refrigerator. Also check and make sure the evaporator fan motor WP4389147 inside the freezer is running. If both fan motors are running, you will need to check and see if there is a frost build up inside the freezer on the back wall. If so, you have a defrost problem. You will need to test the defrost heater WP2323198 and defrost thermostat WPW10225581. They should read closed for continuity. If they are good, you will need to replace the defrost control board WPW10366605. You can test this with a multi-meter MA-DM1. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter.
