David for Model Number Whirlpool DU1300XTVQ1

Our dishwasher runs through a full cycle only SOMETIMES. It stops at random intervals and all lights on it turn off. When we push Start again, it does not resume; it starts from the beginning of a normal cycle again (as if it had lost power or been reset). It seemed to more often run the whole way through if we pushed extra options like High Temp wash & sani-rinse. Usually it would make it through the whole cycle after about 4-7 crashes. When it washes, all the components work well (wash, rinse, drain, heated dry, etc.). We opened up the door to the unit to make sure all connections to the circuit board were good. It doesn't seem to have any problem registering the door/open close. We've also tried to run the diagnostics, but the key combination in the service manual doesn't seem to do anything. We suspect the circuit board or the thermal fuse. Would either of these components cause this kind of behavior? Any other suggestions or ideas before we give up and have to buy a replacement?

Answer

David, Check and make sure the power supply connections, in the junction box, on the dishwasher frame, behind the lower access panel/ kickplate, are not loose, cinged, or damaged in any way. Make sure you have a proper 120 VAC, polarized and grounded power supply. Since you stated the door switches are OK, and the thermal fuse shouldn't be at fault( it's a "one shot"component) That leaves the power supply, wiring or a faulty keypad/control panel assembly WP3385735
