Jay for Model Number MDB8959AWS2 The bimetal thermal fuse has blown 3 times on my 3.5 year old Maytag dishwasher, MDB8959AWS2. The element reads 12.7 ohms, within the spec of 10-30 ohms. In my latest, current, test, I'm going to try running with the element disconnected, but do you think I have a failing element? Besides the fuse that blows every 2-10 weeks, the dishwasher runs fine.
Answer Hello Jay, This is caused by an excessive current flow. You have something in the circuit causing this like bad connections in the power connection box to the unit from the home electrical supply, a failing circulation pump, a bad door switch, a failing breaker in the breaker box, and even sometimes the wiring to the dishwasher is too small of a gauge. This is an issue easiest found with a clamp on amp meter. Clamp it onto one wire of the power supply to the unit and run a cycle. When the current flow peaks in the cycle, all of the components energized at that time, by the time chart, will be suspect. The most common cause is a poor connection, (burned wire nut), and windings shorted in the circulation pump motor W10806701. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Friday, September 5, 2014
