Theresa for Model Number WED7500VW I need to replace the door switch on a Whirlpool model WED7500VW. How do I go about doing this. Is there a step by step instruction manual for this repair. There is a round collar keeping the boot firmly in place, so it cannot be peeled back to access the door catch. I believe the part is AFK73489601 but I need to know if I can get to the switch for replacement. Thank you Theresa
Answer Theresa, with the power supply to the dryer off, the door switch can be accessed by removing the top panel of the dryer (there will be screws on the back that would need to be taken out) and then removing the mounting screws of the switch WP8182530. The wires would then be moved to the new switch one at a time so that they are placed on the correct terminals. The new switch would then be mounted in place and the top panel re-installed.
