Justin H Staunton , VA August 17, 2015 Appliance: Whirlpool Compact Electric Dryer LEW0050PQ2 The handle on my dyer broke off Ordered the new handle. Unscrewed the door at the hinge. The door came apart in two pieces. I used the old mechanism as a template to put the pieces of the new handle together, which was tedious and a bit tricky, but not impossible. I'd say it took about 30 min. to get it put together correctly. Screwed it in and put the two pieces of the door together, screwed the door back onto the hinge and voila! Perfect! The handle was not cheap (no part is anymore), but at least I didn't have to pay for labor and got the satisfaction of doing it myself. Yay! p.s. the part came from the company in less than 48 hours!! Bruce G New York , NY October 09, 2016 Appliance: Whirlpool Compact Electric Dryer LEW0050PQ0 Broken door handle The door must be removed - held on with only 3 screws which easily came out and the door then splits apart into an inner and outer panel - just a simple bit of prying with a thin screwdriver. The latch must be assembled with the supplied parts which, at least in my case, was possible only because the core of the old part was intact and provided a template that could be used. If I had thought about it I would have photographed the assembled part before it was reinstalled to help the next person - someone may wish to do this.
