Theresa July 14, 2021 for Model Number WED7500VW I need to replace the door switch on a Whirlpool model WED7500VW. How do I go about doing this. Is there a step by step instruction manual for this repair. There is a round collar keeping the boot firmly in place, so it cannot be peeled back to access the door catch. I believe the part is AFK73489601 but I need to know if I can get to the switch for replacement. Thank you Theresa
1 Answer Theresa, with the power supply to the dryer off, the door switch can be accessed by removing the top panel of the dryer (there will be screws on the back that would need to be taken out) and then removing the mounting screws of the switch WP8182530. The wires would then be moved to the new switch one at a time so that they are placed on the correct terminals. The new switch would then be mounted in place and the top panel re-installed. Sara June 29, 2017 for Model Number LEW0050PQ-W0W The handle part # is WP8182574. I will attempt to install it myself, but I see no instructions anywhere. THE DOOR IS CLOSED, so I have no way to remove the door as I do not know how to open the door without the handle. I have pictures of the handle, if needed. Please let me know if it will be possible to open the door without damaging anything further. In addition, I do not see any instructions on how to install it. Cathy October 24, 2016 for Model Number WED7500VW0 SEARS IS SO BOOKED FOR REPAIR. THEY CONTRACT OUT THEIR WARRANTY WORK. I HAD A MAN COME OUT AND PUT ON A DRYER HANDLE THAT BROKE OFF. PART NO. WP8182574. IN STEAD OF LOOKING AT THE PART ON THE DOOR BEFORE TAKING IT OFF. HE PULLED THE BROKEN HANDLE OFF THE DRYER. THE NEW PART COMES IN PIECES. COULD NOT FIGURE OUT HOW TO PUT IT TOGETHER. PLAYED WITH IT FOR AN HOUR JIMMY RIGGED IT THE WAY HE THOUGHT IT SHOULD BE. THE HANDLE IS ON VERY LOOSE, AND NOW MY DRYER GETS STUCK WHEN I OPEN IT. I ORDERED ANOTHER PART. 1 Answer Hello Cathy. Unfortunately we do not have any type of diagram for the door handle installation. The best way to do this would be to take the door off the unit and lay the unit down. Remove the panel of the door and look to see how the old assembly is in place inside the door and follow the way it is together.
