Answer SAK, The correct part number for the drive coupler is WP9704230 it's pretty common to most if not all WP blenders. Yes you will need to remove the metal disc from the motor shaft in order to replace and install the replacement coupler. In your case, you'll probably have to remove the lower base panel, hold the motor armature in position and turn the remainder of the coupler ( metal disc) clockwise to remove.
