Eeebeebee It appears that Kitchen Aid has replaced part 9704230 with a new part number WP9704230. Has the part changed -- if so, for better or worse? If I get one with the old part, is it likely to be too old, so that the rubber/plastic will fail more easily? It seems that a lot of people have had trouble with a part not fitting.
Answer EEEBEEBEE, The replacement part WP9704230 drive coupler, has not changed, the manufacturer(Whirlpool) has "revamped" their parts numbering system. There are no "old" vs "new" parts and dependability is the same( the part does have a one year warranty and a one year return policy when purchased through AppliancePartsPros.com). We haven't heard or seen too many fit issues, and as long as you follow the instructions, and refer to the video attached to the parts screen, there aren't too many issues replacing the part.
