Hi Jim. If the coupler is turning both ways freely, it must be stripped out on the motor shaft. So as the repair video shows you need to pry it off gently under the coupler on one side and then the other. This should allow the old one to enlarge enough to be lifted off the shaft. Then reinstall it in a counter clockwise manner so it will tighten. You can momentarily use the blender now to re-seat the coupler or when you use it next time it will be ok. Thank You.
