Tom for Model Number K5SS I have a K5SS KitchenAid mixer that only operates on the higher speed settings. A little research indicated that the problem was likely a faulty phase control board. I replaced the board and plugged in the mixer for a test run. I failed to notice that the mixer was turned on when I plugged it in. Immediately upon plugging it in, there was a loud electrical SNAP that tripped the GFCI in outlet. I reset the GFCI and the mixer operates as before, so I suspect the phase control board was damaged again. I removed the rear cover and could not detect any burned or scorched electric components that would indicate a short. Any idea what could be causing this problem?
Answer Tom, The other thing that could also cause this would be a governor that is faulty and would need replaced but could be that the phase board was damaged. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Friday, June 29, 2018
