Karl for Model Number Kenmore 110.28832700 I have a Kenmore Washer 110.28832700 that won't spin or drain. It will fill up and agitate. It trys, it hums for a bit then it clicks and no more humming, like it tripped an overload switch. I have eliminated the lid switch. The motor coupler also looks good and tight. It does not appear the motor is coming on to drain or spin. The drain hoses and pump are clear. I think it is the timer. How can I check it.
Answer Hello Karl, This sounds like the motor is being supplied 120Vac from more than one source at the same time. This can be the fault of the cycle switch WP8578416, the harness 3958086 can be shorted, the motor switch WP8529896 can be stuck, or the timer 280223 can have a stuck set of contacts. Depending on the wiring configuration of the unit, the lid switch WP8318084 may be the only issue since some wiring configurations allow the unit to fill and agitate but not spin if the lid is opened. Of course the logical way to determine the cause of the issue is by using the wiring diagram on the unit and a test meter to determine the exact cause of the issue. Read More...
