Matt for Model Number 110.66962501 The heating element turns on right away when I start the dryer and turns off after 30-45 seconds. It then comes back on every 3-5 minutes for 30-45 seconds, the dryer never heats up as the heating element won't stay on. I have checked Voltage at outlet 120V on left, 120V on right, 240V together. Same test at the terminal block on Dryer and same result, Tested Ok. Checked continuity on Motor Switch, Tested Ok. Tested Resistance on Timer Assembly, Tested Ok. Tested Resistance on Heater Element, Tested 10.2 Ohms, Tested Ok. Tested all 4 T-Stats continuity and resistance, Tested Ok. Just for Fun I replaced all 4 T-Stats, cleaned the entire casing of the machine. Also cleaned the exhaust duct, checked for obstructions, and left exhaust pipe off during testing. Thanks
Answer Hello Matt, This can be caused by an electrically stressed, (failing), thermostat, a poor connection, or a failing contact in the motor or timer. I would begin with replacing the thermostats, WP3387134, and WP3390291. The thermal fuse and thermal cutout would not need to be replaced since, if they open, they will not reset which would cause you to just not have any heater ever. Read More...
