Beate H. for Model Number TEDX640PQ1 Dryer Estate Whirlpool The dryer no longer gets hot, the heating elements not working. The control dial does not move forward and does not go off. I believe the control is my problem. I lost the 60 minute cycle when I moved, the other hot cycles worked, up until about three days ago. the dryer will be five years old in June of this year.
Answer Hello. You will want to make sure you are getting 240V to the unit from the breaker box. Next, check the heating element and make sure the heating coils 279838 on the element are intact. You will want to test the cycling thermostat WP3387134with a multi meter MA-DM1. On the two outer terminals you will want to have a close reading and the inner terminals will give you a resistance reading. Here is a link you can refer to for help with using a multi meter: http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html . Hope this helps!
