Don for Model Number 11023822100 After reading your Q&A postings, I believe that the timer in my Kenmore washer needs to be replaced. My question is how do you sync the timer with the control dial on the machine? You really have no idea where the timer shaft is set for when you get the new one. If you can't tell where the timer is set, you have no idea where to replace the dial. There are no markings on the shaft vs. timer to indicate where in the wash cycle the shaft of the timer is.
Answer Don, When you receive the replacement timer WP661649, you will see how the white plastic portion of the timer shaft is shaped and "keyed" so the timer dial WP3949428 will fit in one way only, once the dial is properly aligned and seated on the shaft, screw the timer knob WP3948416 onto the threaded portion of the timer shaft, and test the washer operation.
