This is a replacement spark plug that is designed specifically to be used with select string trimmers. the spark plug is connected to the ignition module and is responsible for creating the spark that starts the internal combustion engine. Over time, the electrode on the spark plug will wear down. Other issues can also arise that cause the spark plug to foul or stop working. Spark plugs are part of routine maintenance on any engine, but most owners keep a spare or two around just in case of emergencies. In the event that the spark plug is bad, the engine will not start. This genuine OEM spark plug is manufactured by MTD and designed for use in select trimmers. It is compatible with over 50 models of string trimmers from MTD, Bolens, Murray, Troy-Bilt, Yard Man, and Cut Cadet. Owners will need to consult their product diagram or manual to find the exact gap for the spark plug when replacing them. Many models claim to come pre-gapped, but they can settle during shipping and should always be re-gapped prior to installation. This is sold as an individual unit. Be sure to wear gloves for hand protection when replacing spark plugs and performing other maintenance.
