Tim G Naperville , IL December 24, 2018 Appliance: Bosch Dishwasher SHE55M16UC/64 Broken control panel facia poor design of part used to open the dishwasher This piece fails due to poor design as the weak point of the part you grab to open the dishwasher door. This defect has been reported by a number of owners as a common failure point on this model dishwasher. This is a $90 piece of plastic and yes, it does the job of restoring the DW to fully functional. But due to the inherent design, this part is subject to failing again unless you remember to open the DW a bit gently, and not yank it open You'll need a T20 Torx screw driver and a flathead screwdriver. Open the door, remove the six T20 torx head screws (three each side) holding the outer front door panel. Remove the front panel by sliding down and off. Then remove the two hidden torx screws at the bottom of the facia piece. Next, take a flathead screwdriver and depress the two plastic tabs at the bottom sides of the facia to release the bottom edge and rotate the facia piece up and off. There is no need to remove the actual control panel board so you can leave the upper screws on the inner door in place. Once removed, set the old facia piece face down. Transfer the buttons one-by-one to the new facia. I took the time to clean the old buttons with soapy water and a toothbrush to get off all the old gunk. You can remove the chrome trim piece from the facia by gently pushing down on the chrome tabs visible above the opening on the inside. Transfer trim to the new facia and you're ready to reinstall. To install the piece, set the tabs on the inside of the upper facia edge to engage the slots in the door panel and rotate the piece down so the two lower vertical plastic tabs engage the slots in the door. Reinstall the two torx screws at the bottom of the facia. Then slide the outer door panel onto the door. Have a friend help hold it in place while you reinstall the six torx screws that hold the outer door panel in place. William G Westfield , NJ February 20, 2023 Appliance: Bosch Dishwasher SHE55M16UC/64 Broken fascia panel I removed the old fascia, saved the button flaps and handle, installed the button flaps and handle in the new fascia, and installed the new fascia in the machine. When I turned on the dishwasher, the Regular Wash light kept flashing and the countdown timer read "1". Bosch customer support couldn't tell me what this meant. I removed the fascia from the control panel and the problem disappeared. I took the button flaps out of the fascia and reinstalled it. Again, no problem, so something about the button flaps was wrong. I had already noticed that the button flaps were subtly different, but I discounted the differences because I thought I'd kept them in the original order. Then I realized that a button flap with a long actuator rod might continuously activate a control button. With the button flaps still removed, I held down the right-most button and pressed On/Off. The Regular Wash light began flashing again. Problem solved! It turned out that both the button flaps and the fascia have letters C,D,E,F,G and X,Y,Z. All you have to do is match the letters when installing the button flaps. The black plastic makes it hard to see the letters, but they're clear enough when you look for them. I was finally able to solve the problem because I kept in mind a quotation from Mark Twain: "It ain't what a man don't know that's the problem. It's what he does know that just ain't so." The same idea points a way out of today's fractured political environment, if we each ask ourselves what we know about our society that just isn't so. William B Eau Claire , WI April 16, 2020 Appliance: Bosch Dishwasher SHE55M16UC/64 Broken facia. Ordered facia, buttons (3 of mine looked like they were broken) and handle. In hindsight, buttons were fine and reusable and handle likely was too though I don't know how easy it would have been to get off the original piece as I didn't try. Super easy following Tim G. directions. Only issue I had was getting the front panel back on. One of the white spacer pieces fell off (one on each side). Luckily the other stayed in place so I could see how it fit back. The panel didn't slide back in the way I expected. I had to put the top in first, slide it up as much as possible and then just push the bottom in with a little force. Screw holes matched up fine at that point. Would have been a 20 minute job if I hadn't forgot to move the On/Off button to the new facia and spent 15 minutes trying to get the bottom panel back on. Ended up being 40 minutes with those two issues. Read More... 3 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 30-60 minutes Tools: Nut Drivers, Screwdrivers
