This is a GE refrigerator door hinge assembly. The door hinges are located on the inner edges of the doors, connecting them to the main portion of the refrigerator. Without functioning hinges, the door will not open or close properly and could lead to the contents of the refrigerators thawing. There are a few main issues that lead to hinge replacements. Over time, normal wear and tear take a toll on the door hinges. Sometimes that shocks go out on these particular components, leading to a need for replacement. If the original hinges end up getting rusty, this could also lead to the hinges going bad. The hinges are for the lower area of the door. The refrigerator will need to be turned on its side to access the lower area. Remove all contents of the refrigerators and unplug the unit, allowing it to rest for several hours before turning sideways. The simple removal of a few screws is all it takes to replace this component. The most vital step in the replacement is allowing the refrigerator to rest after the hinges are installed. This allows the refrigerant to settle back normally and not build up in one area too much. Turning on immediately after tilting could lead to damage to the compression system. This part is a genuine OEM product and is sourced directly from the manufacturer. This product is compatible with GE, Haier, Hotpoint, and RCA appliances.
