This plastic body fuel shutoff lever is a genuine OEM replacement part for many different engines on lawn and garden equipment. It is part of the fuel shutoff valve assembly. This valve controls the gas flow from the fuel tank to the engine. The shutoff lever is used to open or close the valve. This lever is a plastic part that may break or crack over time. Exposure to rain and snow and excessive use may lead to damage. When this happens, the shutoff lever should be replaced to prevent fuel from leaking from the fuel tank.Repairs to the fuel tank should be made outside where there is adequate ventilation. Remove all fuel from the fuel tank and take the spark plug out before working on the shut off lever. Remove the fuel tank from the machine and turn it upside down to get to the fuel shutoff lever. Remove the lever from the shutoff valve. Install the new shut off lever. Reinstall the fuel tank and fill it with fuel. This fuel shutoff lever is sold individually. It is made for MTD and Troy-Bilt log splitters and other small engines.
