Hex screw for lawn mowers and garden equipment. Replaces cracked, stripped, or missing hex head bolts. Six-sided head fastens metal or wood components.
There are multiple uses for the 5/16-18 Hex Screw. It is often used with small gasoline-powered yard equipment such as lawn and garden machines. While hex screws such as these may be used in edgers and snowblowers, the most frequent use this screw is in yard tractors. This variety of screw is commonly used in attaching the various appendages of gas-powered equipment to a central operating platform. In particular, these hex screws are used to secure the engine block of power tools to the frame or housing of the equipment. Once in place, these fasteners have an almost unbreakable strength to them. This is so much so the case that often, in order to detach the engine manifold and repair the inner workings of an engine, the bolts must be chiseled or cut loose. In such cases, it is necessary for the bolts to be replaced during reassembly. Manufacturers insist that genuine OEM replacement parts be used in the rebuilding process. These replacement parts were manufactured to the same exacting specifications used to make the original screws. These OEM screws are compatible with equipment made and sold by Yard-Man, Cub Cadet, Troy-Bilt, Husky, MTD, Bolens, and Yard Machines.

This is a flanged lock nut. It’s designed to apply tension, typically on a joint that needs to have a certain amount of flex. As such, it’s mostly used on snowblower chutes and lawnmower handles. They can remain in place, but with a forgiving connection that can take a beating. The nut size is 3/8, with a thread size of 16. A lock nut will generally last for many years. However, the silicone ring inside will wear down if it’s frequently tightened and loosened. It needs to be replaced when it will no longer reliably remain in place. Generally, this begins as a symptom of slight slippage and worsens as time goes on. Thankfully, whether it’s being used on a snowblower or a lawnmower, this nut is generally straightforward to access. Simply unscrew the old nut, then screw the new nut on until it’s nice and tight. Our flanged lock nuts are genuine OEM MTD nuts, and they are sold individually.
Replaces a stripped, damaged, or missing 5/8" hex flange nut on your lawn mower or snow thrower. Secures blades and other components with integrated washer.

This spring is found in different types of lawn mowers and is able to assist other parts working together to allow the engine to run properly and smoothly. Though this spring is small it is an important part of many machines.A new torsion spring might be needed if the current one is damaged or missing. Because of the nature of the spring, it is not unusual for it to become stripped or snapped due to normal wear and tear within the machine. Unusual noises may come from inside the machine if the torsion spring is not working properly. This torsion spring is sold individually and is sourced directly from the manufacturer to ensure proper fit. This is a genuine OEM replacement part.
This replacement part is a cotter pin. It is a genuine replacement part made by MTD. Cotter pins are also sometimes known as clevis pins and are responsible for fastening two metals together. This allows the machine to work properly and operate smoothly. A new cotter pin might be needed if the current ones are damaged in any way or even missing. This part is small so it can be misplaced after years of normal wear and tear. It is possible that this part become stripped or lodged in place over time. The repair should be fairly easy and only require common tools. Be sure the engine is completely powered down before beginning this repair. This pin is sold individually. This is a genuine OEM replacement part sourced directly from the manufacturer to ensure a proper fit.
Secures wheels and attachments to axles on lawn mowers and tractors. Replace if bent, rusted, broken, or lost to restore safe equipment operation.
Cotter pins are simple but very effective fasteners used primarily to hold wheels in place on mowers. This is particularly true of the front wheels on riding mowers. Cotter pins are very light and can become overly pliable after extensive use. In some cases, the front wheels of a mower, which are the guide wheels that steer the device, become difficult to manage. The cure for this situation is often simply the replacement of the cotter pins that are not holding the guide wheels adequately in place. Before attempting to remove the pins, it is essential that the spark plug boot is moved so that the mower cannot be started. This is an important safety step because the repairer will be getting under the mower near the blades. The back wheels should be blocked so the mower cannot move, then the front end placed up on blocks. Remove the mower's hubcaps to gain access to the axle spindles. Straighten the legs of the pin so that when the curved portion of the cotter pin is grasped with pliers and it can be pulled straight back and be removed. The spindle, washers, and wheels should be checked for wear before the new pin is placed and secured. This OEM cotter pin is compatible with Bolens, Yard-Man, Craftsman, Yard Machines, Cub Cadet, Turf King, Troy-Bilt, Huskee, Toro, Ryobi, MTD, MasterCut, Murray, and Montgomery Wards.

This lock washer is used frequently for a number of applications on power yard equipment. The size, 5/16, is the default for many small engine housing and manifold applications. Lock washers are used with machined bolts to fasten engine blocks to the housing of the equipment being used. The compressed washer is able to handle the constant vibration of the small gasoline engine without losing the seal between the screw or bolt and the housing. Typically these lock washers only need to be replaced when they are misplaced during repairs or when the screws that attach them have to be chiseled or cut away, meaning the washers are destroyed as well. These OEM certified replacement washers have been manufactured to the same specifications as the originals they are replacing. In addition to lawn mowers, lock washers of this type and size are frequently used on blowers, lawn tractors, cultivators, snowblowers, and trimmers. Brands compatible with this type of washer are Murray, Husky, Poulan, Bolens, Yard-Man, Cub Cadet, Troy-Bilt, Yard Machines, MTD, and Ryobi.

The belt spindle, also called a v-belt, is compatible with a range of riding lawnmower models. This rubber composite belt fits over the spindle assembly and idler pulleys in the machine. Its purpose is to transmit force to the blades on the mower deck. If the belt is broken or otherwise not working properly, the blades will not spin, and the mower will not cut the grass. The belts are made from durable rubber, but they will still wear out over time and will need to be replaced. Owners will want to check the belt to see if it is worn down, so they can replace it before it breaks. Replacement of the spindle belt is not difficult but will require a wrench and a screwdriver. This belt spindle is for use with certain lawn tractors from MTD and Craftsman. This is a genuine OEM replacement part sourced from the manufacturer. It is sold individually. Because the belts will wear out over time and with repeated use, owners may want to buy several to have on hand for replacements.

A ball bearing is a common type of rolling-element bearing. It will use balls to keep space between the bearing races and eliminate friction and contact between moving parts. Ball bearings used in lawn and garden equipment ensure that axial loads and radial loads are evenly supported and that there is only a limited amount of rotational friction on the component. It distributes weight evenly, but will undergo constant wear and tear from vibration, heat, and friction and will need replacement regularly. This ball bearing is a genuine OEM part suited to use in Craftsman, Cub Cadet, Ryobi, Troy-Bilt, MTD, Huskee, Yard Machines, Bolens, Mastercut, and Yard-Man equipment.
