How to Troubleshoot & Replace Frigidaire AP5318915 / 297370600 User Control Board

Ordered the Control board, and installed the new one by taking the old one out (easy) and plugging in the new one. 

After reading the trouble that other people had that were similar, I ordered the part and when it arrived my freezer is back to normal!! Thank you very much! 

Unplugging and plugging the freezer back in did not fix the issue. I ordered a new front panel and installed in in the freezer. The freezer began working normally. 

I ordered new controller pad on outside of freezer door. Pulled old one straight out and pushed new one in and fixed all problems...even fixed light inside freezer. All is good. 

Take out old power board, put in new board. now I have a working freezer again, YEAH!! Thank you for the SUPER FAST delivery. VERY pleased with your quick shipping. 

Replaced door switch. Did not fix problem. Only thing left was control module, which come to find out just plugs in. Replaced it and fixed the unit!!! 

Replaced control board 

After reading several stories on your site , I felt pretty sure that I had the same problem with my unit . Ordered the part, to be shipped on Monday, arrived Tuesday. Replaced the part in less than 5 minutes. The User Control Board simply unplugged and the new one plugged right back in. 

Found similar stories here that were fixed with a control board replacement. I couldn't see any visible damage on my control board (which was trivial to remove with no more of a tool than a screwdriver or guitar pick to get under the edge and pry it out), but I ordered one anyway and added a run capacitor just in case (I was more interested in getting the freezer fixed quickly than minimizing my order). Swapping the control board was enough, just pop the old one out, push the new one in and plug the freezer back in. The freezer is running fine and I am a god among mortals. 

Read symptoms of similar failures on AppliancePartsPros.com website. Identified the problem as a faulty User Control Board. Ordered a replacement Board. "Popped-out" the failed Board and "popped-in" the replacement board. Plugged in the freezer and it worked again. Very simple repair once I knew what the problem was. A caveat: be sure to unplug the freezer before attempting to remove/replace the Control Board. And, I didn't use a screwdriver to remove the Board -- I used a pair of putty knifes -- the box below requires that you select a tool from the list -- "other" doesn't work.
