How to Troubleshoot & Replace Frigidaire AP5590146 / 318394803 Switch

This is the second time this switch fried due to water boiling over on the range 1)shut the power off 2) open oven door 3) pop switch out with screw driver 4) unplug switch. and then your on your way plug new switch in turn power on and check switch, when switch works turn power off insert switch in oven wall turn power back on. p,s, when the switch shorted out the oven light stayed on so i unplugged switch then waited for the new switch that came in 3 days good luck. 

Ordered and replaced new switch 

Replaced switch and fan 

Changed the probe and door switch. Also pulled double oven out, replaced the convection motor. The unit was 30 years old. only pain was pulling out oven to get to back. watched video first, AppliancePartsPros were a great help. 

Removed old element and switch and reinstalled new parts 

Replaced door switch and motor. 

I replaced the light bulb and switch. Everything went well thanks! 

Took 4 screws out on top of the control panel, and pulled control panel out where I could reach in behind. Found the receptacle for the switch was burned out. Found out there was another set of wires attached for the left side of the door, not being used. Rerouted those wires and plug to the right side of the door, purchased a new switch and plugged it in. Cut burned out plug off of the first set of wires, put wire nuts on, and taped them so there were no exposed wire ends. Put the panel back on, and TURNED THE POWER BACK ON. 

The housing that secures the switch broke so the switch fell into the oven housing. The toughest part was fishing it out. Make sure to turn breaker off, simply unplug the old switch and plug the new one in and it pops right into place. May have to use flat blade screwdriver to pry old switch off connector. 

Pulled stove top up and propped up to get old switch out. Taped wire connection to the hole to pull wire through and connect and push the new switch in place without taking the stove apart again. Worked like a charm. Good design.
