How to Troubleshoot & Replace Frigidaire AP2592907 / 215846604 Defrost Timer

This repair took about 2 minutes after moving freezer to access the back. Many newer freezers have this timer mounted on the lower corner. The fix involved removing two mounting screws, unplugging the wiring harness from the old timer, and then plugging in and remounting the new one. New timer works perfectly.

Thanks to the the how to videos the repair went well.I replaced the defrost thermostat and the defrost timer just in case the thermostat wasn't the problem. 

Replaced defrost timer. I thought I had received a defective part since the refrigerator compressor did not start. After using google, I found out about the "dial" on the timer as you can see on the hole in the picture. It was shipped so the defroster is on making the compressor off. I used a screwdriver to turn the dial to make the compressor come on turning off the defroster. I liked how the refrigerator was designed to easily replace the defrost timer and to get behind the freezer to replace the defrost thermostat if needed. Thank you for the defrost timer replacement video too. Would be nice to include information on how to check the part using a multi-meter. Yes, I know that information in on the internet too but would be convenient to have it all here. 

Just removed the old one and put the new one in. A private company wanted to charge me $170 to do it so I saved a lot of money!!!! Thanks a lot, I never thought I could do it myself but you guys showed me how. 

Installed new timer-defrost. Easy fix and solved the problem.

I replaced both the defrost timer and cold control. To me they were the most suspect, saved on shipping by getting both together. Unit is working well now
