How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP4980791 / WE19M1656 Dryer Control Panel Assembly (White)

Went on line to appliancepartpros.com. Found the right part by putting the model number. The website had pictures identifying the correct part. I ordered it and paid for it. .... with free shipping. And SNAP ... Two days later it arrived at my doorstep. 15 minutes later the dryer is working and the little lady of the house thinks I'm a hero! 

After a bit of work to find the screws that needed to be removed - we easily removed the old control panel assembly and replaced it. Was simple to do - and well worth it to save $$ instead of having to call a repair person. Went very smoothly. 

I googled the problem, and successfully found on your blog, a person who had gone through the same necessary process. First, he identified the right part, gave quite complete removal of the old Control Assembly Panel (white) instructions, philips screwdriver only, very easy if you know the sequence. I then ordered the part through you, received it in two days here on the Oregon coast. 

I ordered a new control panel from you all. Took the broken control panel off, removed the circuit board from it, attached the circuit board to the new control panel, connected the wire assembly and replaced the cover. It came right on when I hit the power button and works like new! 

Just pull off the knob take a screw out lift up the panel take some screws off the mother board and put on the new one .Pretty easy 

Ordered a whole new plastic front piece. A little pricey for a piece of plastic, but a heck of a lot cheaper than buying it from GE-who wanted to send me a whole new mother board attached to it. Taking off and putting on the new front was quite easy. I have to mention that the part ordered and received is NOT exactly like the piece it replaced. This may be due to the age of my machine. The part fits and allows the machine to function, however the plastic molded piece is NOT exactly the same (back is OPEN-where dust may enter and accumulate on the mother board). A simple piece of duck tape seals it off. 

Replaced the entire control panel. 

Had to order the complete control panel. 

I bought a Control Panel Assembly. 

Got a new control panel for dryer. Used screw driver to take off current control panel, switched circuit board from old to new control panel. Very easy just 5 screws. Screwed new control panel back onto dryer. Only hard part was that the dryer was in a closet that it was hard to get it in and out of.
