How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP5805162 / WE01X20380 Control Knob

Replaced the timer unit and knob. 

Replaced the knob Shipping from Appliance parts Pros was spectacular. Part arrived mid-day of the day after I ordered it on-line. I have no idea how they did it! 

Wow, wow, wow!!! I ordered the part from here and the very next day it was on my doorstep!! Amazing work, Appliance Parts Pros! I was so worried about doing my laundry because without the knob my husband attached a make shift wrench to the metal knob, in order for me to keep using it, while awaiting the part. The wrench was turning the lever so that I could dry the clothes, but it was also stripping the plastic piece. Just as I figured that I would have to hold off on the laundry, the piece arrived! 24 hours from order to delivery, on the lowest shipping price. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! 

I hope these last longer than one year. This could be a costly repair job. It is easy to install. My husband just push them on - that was that. I was real disappointed that the control knob assemblies do not last more than 2 years My old Magtag dryer the knobs never broken until it I retired it for a new dryer. My old dryer was having other problems. It was 10 years old. 

Watched the tutorial then found the procedure very easy to do. made a note on paper of which colored wires went where as a back up. The whole procedure took about 20 minutes. 

Replaced Control knob 

Ordered timer and knob came in on time as promised. easy to install just unplug electricity to to prevent getting shocked and installed timer. Have run several loads now and dryer works like new again. Thanks AppliancePartsPros.com you made my day. 

I looked on line for parts and found Appliance Parts and ordered what I needed. The parts arrived within two days and the repair was simple and fast. 

New timer and control knob. I watched your video and when timer arrived by Fed-X the next day, I unplugged the dryer from the wall and removed the control panel. I very carefully took off one wire at a time and connected to the new timer so that I was sure each wire was connected correctly. This was not the way the video showed. They unhooked all the wires first, but it worked for me. I cleaned as much lint/dirt as I could before re-attaching the control panel and control knob. I am saving the laundry knob for the future as I do not need it at this time. I took the opportunity to clean the dryer vent hose as I saw an abundance of lint. I moved the dryer back into it's normal upright position and plugged it back in. I started the dryer and it worked perfectly making my wife very happy. 

Found that the knob was cracked at the stem collar. Replaced the knob.
