How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP6992536 / WB27X35382 Microwave Diode Cable Assembly

You-tubed "fixes." Ordered a fuse, diode and magnetron, in case it was any of the 3. Took apart the microwave as shown on video, found the fuse replacement, and wa-la, that's all it took. $6 part and I sent back the others for full refund. Saved me having to spend almost $400 on a replacement, and then another $125 for a trim kit. Well worth buying through AppliancePartsPros.com Will definitely do business with them again. 

Bought some fuses and found step by step instructions on internet to narrow problem down. Mine said diode but bought capacitor just in case. Drained charge on capacitor and replaced both. Working fine now. Finding problem took about hour fixing about 10mins. 

I had to order a small set of TT20 bits to get the security screws out of the back. I ordered them from an online retailer. Once the security screws have been removed and the Phillips screws, the cover can be lifted off and away. My cover was stuck in the front. I had to wiggle it to get it to break loose from the tongue and groove seam. I had ordered a Magnetron, a fuse, a HV Capacitor, and a Diode. It did not take that long to replace the parts. I figured if I was that committed to get into it I would replace all of the parts. It's back together and it heats like New???? I did not realize how noisy the Magnetron had become over time. Now it's quiet. For half the price of a new one, it's up and running like New! Go for it. 

First step was to make sure capacitor was discharged before touching other components.Used multimeter (VOM) to check out components, diode, capacitor, and magnetron. Ordered all three as readings were not consistent with expected. Started by replacing magnetron. Tested with cup of water. Viola microwave was heating the water. Returned the other parts. Super service. One caution is to make sure capacitor is discharged before doing any work as it contains high voltage. Safety first. 

Replaced the magnetron and diode. It's built-in microwave so I'd rather repair than replace. AppliancePartsPros.com got the parts to me the next day with standard shipping!!! That was great service!!! 

Ordered at 5pm, on my front porch by 930 the next morning. Very impressive!! Installed and working by 10:15. Would have been in shop for at least 5 days. Not sure which part was bad, Dont really care at this point. Probably magnetron but kept old parts. Might be handy some day. 

Replaced capacitor and diode. 

It started with a loud pop and then an unusual humming sound. From reading your other fixes, I saw that the most common fix was the diode. Ordered diode and replaced it and all good. 

I was ready to ditch this microwave as I have been through this before with the same brand but I could not locate a suitable replacement at a reasonable cost. I opened it up, tested the components directly related to the microwave side of the oven (YouTube is your friend and be careful if you are unfamiliar with high voltage electronics; also you need to be somewhat adept at the disassembling process (and reassembling also)) and was unable to pinpoint a culprit. I don't like shotgunning (replacing components without knowing if they are broken) and it can get expensive very quickly using new brand name parts but I had little choice. I took a guess it was the magnetron and was fortunate enough to be correct (although the first one I received was damaged in shipping, and the second part, once installed and tested, immediately blew the HV fuse and I needed to purchase a pack of fuses (note: the original fuse was a fast blow type, the replacement is a slow blow)). 

After some research, and based on the symptoms, consulted with repair person and figured it was the most common 3 parts (magnetron, capacitance, diode, and threw in a new fuse). So spent $190, and service tech came, replaced them, all good again. All done in an hour.
