Was going to buy a new washer and dryer since we’ve had both units for many years. The washer is okay. But, we were thinking on having new matching units would be nice. I’m old-school. Why buy new; when you can repair what’s old and still serviceable. So, I ordered a new heating element and replaced the old one. The dryer works like a champ!
The replacement was pretty simple. The video online gave excellent step-by-step instructions. Easy to follow, and easy to perform.
Just a word to the wise. As you take the dryer apart, take the time to clean (vacuum) all the old lint and dust that’ve crept into those areas of the dryer you’ve not exposed ‘til now. I probably spent twice as much time making sure every nook and cranny I could reach was clean than I spent on replacing the element itself. All total, a 20-minute or so job, took me a bit over an hour. To me, it was worth it.
Now I have a dryer that works like new for a fraction of what I was planning on spending to replace both units.
