How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP2619954 / WE11M23 Heating Element Assembly

Followed directions on the video, no problem except for the drum belt - that was a little difficult to get both hands in the proper position. 

Watched your “How To” videos and the remedies to the issues. Dryer is great condition for well over 10 years old, so I decided to attempt repairing it. Took about 45 minutes and everything was repaired. Powered things up and works just like new.. Thanks for saving me the costs of a repair service. This wasn’t the first time I used your service and most likely won’t be the last. By far the best online service of this type! 

Ordered the part and replaced it. 

Replaced the Heater housing element assembly. 

Replaced heating element and rear bearing kit and a couple bearing slides 

After researching the why's of our clothes taking so long to dry, we came to the conclusion it was probably the heating element. We ordered the part from Appliance Pros and when we began the work, we watched their video of how to install. Everything went fine and last night for the first time in almost two years, my clothes took the normal time to dry. So glad we got a new element. This will save time and money. 

Took off the top lid and removed the front panel, then removed the belt and drum to reveal the heating element. I then took out the four screws and disconnect the wires, then I just did everything in reverse. It was a snap. I thank you very much for providing a video to help assist. The moisture sensor was very clean, so that didn't seem to be the problem. I had just cleaned out the exhaust vents, so that wasn't the problem either. I decided to go ahead and buy a new heating element. Took apart the dryer as per video. It is not very difficult, although there are a lot of steps. Once I got to the heating element I could see clearly that there was a break in the inner heating coil. I installed the new element which was identical to the old one. The only difficulty was that there are two power wires (blue and white) for the two coils of the heating element and I forgot which wire goes to which coil. In fact though, both coils have the same resistance and length and connect to the same point at the other end, so I just guessed. In fact I later found a wiring diagram online and so I think I got it correct. Putting it all back together was easy but takes a little time. Dryer works like new. I suggest replacing the drum slides at the same time that you replace the heating element, as they both died around the same time on my dryer.
