My old GE dishwasher wouldn't stay running when turned on. If we braced something against the center of the door to keep it pushed in it would stay working as normal. In our case we used bar stool with a pack of bottled water for weight. After research on the internet, I narrowed the problem to interlock switches. The information I read said the button that depresses on the switches is usually broke (spring internally) and stays depressed. Sure enough when I took the door panel off to check the switches (2 on my old model) one of them was depressed and wouldn't spring back. My dishwasher is 16 years old, so this wasn't a shock to be honest. Since, it's that old and the switches are original, I decided to replace both switches. Quick, easy fix, maybe 20-30 mins tops. Once replaced the dishwasher stayed running again like normal without the door being braced. Thanks for the parts for very old models Appliance Parts Pros!
