How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP3994765 / WD21X10261 Interlock Switch

The step by step videos provided detailed instructions to give me confidence in replacing the part. For less than $30 (with shipping) I was able to get my dryer working and also replace a seal that had failed, where calling a repairman would have cost at least $50 just for diagnostics. 

I replaced the door seal, lower seal and corner seals. I also replaced the door interlock switches. Everything works great. 

Well, just like every weekend. I always do my laundry. At this time, my GE Dryer is not Starting right and I keep pressing the start button since I release the button it stopped spinning. Took the whole dryer apart to discover the broken belt switch was placed in the worst place possible for maintenance. It is compared to pulling a car engine out to change spark plugs. I had to refer to a number of Youtube videos because none were specific to the particular model of my dryer. Taking the dryer apart was less challenging than putting things back together. 

I watched the video on AppliancePartsPros.com and it suggested taking the motor and thermostat off to get the switch. I didn't want to disconnect that many wires, so I took the side panel off of the dryer. The switch was super easy to change, but one of the electrical connectors was rusted in two and I had to replace that as well. Overall it was an easy repair and far cheaper than buying a new dryer. 

After much head scratching it turned out to be the belt brake sensor, even though the belt was not broken. Figuring out how to take it apart was the hardest part, next time it will be a snap. The parts arrived SUPER fast! Great company!!!

We removed old part and since this is 28 years old dryer I had to search for a matching part. Your website had great pics and descriptions. Picked the part that matched (and after receiving it) we used the manual to the dryer to install the switch. Was pretty easy even though we dropped the switch and had to fish it back out from under the dryer drum. Dryer works great may just get another 28 years out of it. Thank you 

Installed the interlock switch or (broken belt sensor) works great now, problem solved.
